The Islamic University of Kenya (IUK) officially kicked off the first session of its eagerly awaited sustainability campaign, #IUKGreenDrive2025, on Friday, drawing vibrant enthusiasm and active participation. This event signaled the launch of a series of meaningful initiatives designed to foster environmental responsibility and advance the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—with a special focus on SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). Guests were welcomed with genuine warmth, setting an inviting and inclusive tone for the day. The session opened with a keynote address from Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Ahmed Bilal Waqar, who passionately reaffirmed IUK’s dedication to building a greener, healthier, and more sustainable future through collective action. A highlight of the day was an inspiring talk by Dr. Said Ragaeh, who spoke passionately about the power of individuals to become agents of change in their communities and beyond. His message resonated strongly with attendees, reinforcing the importance of personal responsibility in tackling environmental and public health challenges. Adding energy and excitement to the program, well-known influencer Dulla Mulla introduced fellow influencers present at the event. Their involvement underscored the importance of using digital platforms and youth voices to amplify the message of sustainability and well-being. The IUK team also took the opportunity to emphasize the significance of the initiative, showcasing the university’s eco-conscious infrastructure, health-centered community programs, and the steps already being taken toward a more sustainable and healthy campus. As the day concluded, a clear message emerged: Together, we are driving change—for people, planet, health, and future generations. The #IUKGreenDrive2025 is not just an event; it is a movement—one that positions IUK as a leader in sustainability, wellness, and environmental advocacy within the academic community.
