Jackson Kimani became the Librarian at the Islamic University of Kenya in 2019. Prior, he served as Systems Librarian at Management University of Africa (2016-2019) and St. Pauls University (2012-2016).

Mr. Jackson’s interests are in promoting readership among all communities and how ICT technologies shape libraries and information environments and how that, in turn, shapes future library service provision. Mr. Jackson works closely with the university scholarly communities and these interactions inform his thinking regarding the possibilities of generative research techniques in higher education and ways in which libraries may develop internal and external digital platforms to widen access to information and research. He is passionate about exploring ways to train students and enable researchers to take up and embed new methods in scholarly communication. His current work focuses on library systems administration; library management; training; collection development; among others.

He is a trained library professional and holder of a degree in Library and Information Sciences from Kenyatta University and a masters of science degree in Computer Systems (Msc. Computer Systems) from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology JKUAT. With his leadership and experience, he has been able to establish a dynamic community of readers by the formation of a book club which in turn produces quality graduates and has successfully introduced an annual library week event which has greatly brought library services to the limelight as well as exposing the university community to the library materials and services.
