Our History

Quality Assurance Director at the Islamic University of Kenya.

CPA Otieno Wesley Okoth, PhD

Qualification: PhD in Finance -JKUAT, MBA (Finance)- UoN, BBA (Accounting & Finance), Certified Public Accountant(CPA-K).

CPA Otieno Wesley Okoth is currently the Quality Assurance Director at Islamic University of Kenya.

CPA Otieno Wesley has extensive professional experience in Lecturing Finance, Economics, and Accounting at undergraduate and graduate courses in various universities. He has successfully supervised various graduate and undergraduate students in diverse research areas. In addition, He has 10 years of Managerial experience in Government Parastatals and Non-Government sectors and worked in different capacities, including being a Parastatal Ag. Managing Director, Commercial/Finance Manager, Accountant, Internal Audit Manager. Also worked as a Senior Audit Manager in a registered audit firm and as a County Resident Consultant with the Water Sector Trust Fund.

His research interests cover a wide range of topics, including Financial Innovation, Behavioral Finance, Corporate Finance, and Financial Performance. He has also extensively published articles and research papers in various international refereed journals.

He is a trained Geographical Information System expert, Trained Governance expert, ISO 9001:2008 & ISO 14001:2004 Auditor, Risk Management Professional, advanced Excel trained Officer, and competent in various Accounting and ERP software.

He is a member of the following Professional Organizations: The Institute of Internal Auditors Kenya, Kenya Universities Quality Assurance Network (KuQaN), Member- National Quality Institute- (NQI-KEBS), and Marketing Society of Kenya.

 

Our Approach:

  1. To make certain continuous evaluations of academic programs internally and externally, followed by implementation of improvement plans based on recommendations after each evaluation. 
  2. To foster collaboration and engagement among stakeholders, including faculty, staff, students, alumni, and external partners, to promote a culture of quality and accountability
  3. Ensure quality staff through the development and implementation of core skills training programs for the teaching staff
  4. Benchmarking of programs with quality institutions locally and abroad
  5. Secure accreditation of professional courses taught at the University and adherence to standards set by professional bodies
  6. Embrace innovation and technology to streamline operations, enhance productivity, and deliver high-quality services to our stakeholders
