Hassan Ole Naado is a Chevening Fellow and an alumnus of the International Visitors Leadership Program (IVLP) under the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the Department of State of the USA.
He is the current National Chairman of the Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims (SUPKEM) and immediate former Deputy Secretary General of the Council where he served in the same position for over 10 years. He is also a former and founding CEO of the Kenya Muslim Youth Alliance (KMYA) and the Chief Editor of the New Dawn publication. He has over 25 years’ experience in the Civil Society sector and has been involved in governance, prevention and countering violent extremism, national peace building and conflict resolution programmes and professional consultancies.
Ole Naado is also a regular columnist with The Star daily newspaper. He has consulted for the Global Centre on Cooperative Security based in New York, USA; Institute of Security Studies, South Africa and The Royal United Services Institute for Defence and Security Studies (RUSI), UK-SRIVE, Horn of Africa programme. In his early days at SUPKEM, Ole Naado served as a Programme Officer under the National Civic Education Programme (NCEPI) that was implemented by the Consortium for the Empowerment and Development of Marginalized Communities (CEDMAC).
He considerably rose through the ranks over the years to the position that he occupies currently that includes the President of the Kenya Hajj Mission. His role at the mission include planning, coordinating and supervising all Hajj related activities especially the close oversight of all the registered Hajj Agents in the Country to ensure that pilgrims from Kenya experience the highest levels of support in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in their quest to observe the highest pillar of Islam.
Ole Naado’s academic qualifications include: Post Graduate Diploma in Project Management; Diploma in Leadership and Islamic GovernanceUniversity of Birmingham, UK; Certificate in Peace Building and Conflict Management- MS International Training Centre- Arusha, Tanzania; Islamic Civilization in the 21st Century, Al-Azhar UniversityCairo- Egypt. He is a reader of Islamic history and governance. Through out the years, Ole Naado has contributed to key policies of successive governments in the Republic of Kenya. For instance, during the COVID-19 crisis of 2020 -2022,Ole Naado was a key member of the GoK Interfaith Council on COVID–19 Response as well as the Kenya COVID-19 Vaccine Steering Committee.
Currently, Ole Naado is a key Director at the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) where he is the Chairman of the Audit Committee. He is also serving as a key member of the Multi-Sectoral Working Group on the realization of the not more than two-thirds Gender Principle under the State Department for
Gender and Affirmative Action.
