The third day of the visit to Garissa marked an important moment for reflection and planning as the team from Islamic University of Kenya (IUK) concluded their engagements at the Garissa Learning Centre.
Led by the Vice-Chancellor, the university delegation held a comprehensive debriefing session with both staff and students. The meeting provided an opportunity to review the key outcomes of the visit, assess the progress made during the engagements, and discuss the next strategic steps for the institution’s outreach efforts in the region.
During the session, participants openly shared their experiences, insights, and suggestions aimed at improving academic support, student engagement, and institutional collaboration. The discussions also focused on identifying new opportunities for growth and expansion of the university’s outreach programs within Garissa County.
The visit emphasized the university’s commitment to strengthening relationships with its learning centres and ensuring that students outside the main campus continue to receive quality support and educational opportunities. By fostering dialogue between the university leadership, staff, and students, the initiative sought to build a stronger academic community and address the evolving needs of learners in the region.
As the visit concluded, the outcomes of the discussions laid a promising foundation for future collaborations and development initiatives. The continued partnership between IUK and the Garissa Learning Centre is expected to play a vital role in expanding educational access and enhancing academic programs in Garissa and beyond.
