The Islamic University of Kenya (IUK) officially welcomed its January 2026 cohort, marking the beginning of an exciting and transformative academic journey for new students joining the institution.
The orientation program was carefully designed to support students as they transition from high school to university life. Through a series of engaging sessions, students were guided on navigating independence, personal responsibility, and the academic expectations that define university education.
At IUK, fostering a strong sense of belonging remains a core priority. The university is committed to ensuring that every student feels welcomed, valued, and fully integrated into the IUK community from the very first day. During the orientation, students were introduced to the university’s academic systems, including lectures, timetables, assessments, and institutional standards of conduct rooted in discipline, ethics, respect, and accountability.
Addressing the new cohort, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Mohamed Abdinoor Dahir emphasized the university’s unique foundation, highlighting ethics and accountability as central pillars of IUK’s holistic education model. He noted that the institution’s guiding principles—Ethics, Quality, and Research—play a crucial role in shaping well-rounded graduates prepared for both professional and personal success.
“Today, you become part of a vibrant and supportive community,” said Prof. Dahir. “Engage with support services, participate actively in campus life, and lay a strong foundation for success, retention, and a meaningful university experience. Welcome to IUK—you belong here.”
The university’s Founder, Sheikh Mohamed Othman, also addressed the students, reaffirming IUK’s core values and assuring them of a safe and secure learning environment that promotes both academic excellence and character development.
As the January 2026 cohort begins this new chapter, IUK looks forward to nurturing their growth, empowering their ambitions, and guiding them toward a future defined by knowledge, integrity, and purpose.
